THE BOAFO PROJECT 2010

The Mensakrom Community Library Project is a collaborative effort  between the chief and people of Mensakrom and The Kunke Foundation. Mensakrom is a small town located in the Central Region of Ghana. The town has about 6000 people with three schools each having a primary and junior high curriculum.

The school children  of Mensakrom  have no access to the books required for learning and getting educated. Thus their chances of getting a good education remain very limited. As part of our mission to reduce illiteracy among the children and youth in Mensakrom and to get every child reading , The Kunke Foundation , with formal approval from the traditional council, has initiated THE MENSAKROM COMMUNITY LIBRARY PROJECT to provide a community library for the school children and youth of Mensakrom.

The Mensakrom Community Library Project will involve:

1.Converting the town’s inoperative post office into a community library. This will entail:
Bringing together members of the community and volunteers to provide labour force for renovating the post office building into a community library.
2.Collecting/obtaining relevant books from individuals and organisations for the library.
3.Employing a librarian and volunteers to maintain and sustain the running of the library.
